Methodology and data attribution
Source and period
Climate data is generated at build time from the NASA POWER Climatology API. The current dataset covers January 1991–December 2020; it records the source metadata returned with each API request.
Data attribution: NASA POWER. NASA's Earth-science data policy supports full and open sharing, while its public-use guidance says NASA should be acknowledged and its name must not imply endorsement. This site uses a factual source attribution and no NASA logos. Recheck the applicable terms before any commercial launch.
Metrics
- Mean temperature
- T2M: Temperature at 2 Meters, shown in °C.
- Average daily high
- T2M_MAX_AVG: Temperature at 2 Meters Maximum Average, shown in °C. NASA POWER's similarly named
T2M_MAXis a monthly extreme, so this site does not use it as an average daily high. - Rainfall
- PRECTOTCORR: Precipitation Corrected. NASA POWER supplies mm/day; this site multiplies it by calendar days in the month to show an estimated monthly amount. It is not rainy-day count.
- Solar radiation
- ALLSKY_SFC_SW_DWN: All Sky Surface Shortwave Downward Irradiance, shown in kWh/m²/day. It is not hours of sunshine.
Limits
Each destination is a representative API point, not a claim about every neighbourhood, beach, mountain, or island microclimate. Historical climate averages describe past conditions; they cannot predict weather for a specific holiday.
The generator rejects NASA POWER's reported fill value (-999) instead of replacing missing data with zero.
